First Saturday of the month, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
While the time of each First Touch Ministry meeting is from 10 AM-5 PM, you are welcome to join us for as long as you are able to each meeting day. Can't stay past 2 PM? That's okay!
What is "First Touch"?
First Touch is a ministry of First Baptist Church of Lakewood & friends! It's made up of people who enjoy crocheting, knitting, & sewing. They create beautiful handmade items that are given to our newest FBCL attendees: newborns!
In addition, items are made & given to various organizations like CareNet, local hospitals, Tacoma Rescue Mission, etc to share the love of Jesus with others through something as small as a blanket or a pair of baby shoes.
First Touch also partners with "Quilts of Valor," an organization that makes & presents Veterans with a patriotic-themed lap quilt to thank them for their service & remind them that they are noticed & cared for. The February First Touch meeting is set aside as "Quilt of Valor" day, & quilt blocks are made for a special quilt to be given to a Quilt of Valor recipient in the future.
How Can I Get Involved?
Come to a First Touch Ministry meeting! If you have a project you are currently working on, bring it with you. (We're sorry, sewing machines are not provided - you'll need to bring your own from home.) Don't have a project right now? That's okay! Come & see what items might be needed for some of the mission projects. And jump in! It's a great way to meet new people, make new friends & be creative!
